Creating Creative Spaces

I realized something COOL last night that I want to share with you…

I’m currently working on a project with some friends, and we get together at a studio in a top secret location, a couple times a week, to get our creative juices flowing and to make some art.

Well, we got together at the studio to work on some stuff last night, and while we were there, I thought to myself, “Wow, as an artist, I am really fortunate to have this particular space set aside, strictly for being creative and productive – just having the space itself is SO conducive to our efforts.”

I guess you could say that I was experiencing a true sense of gratitude for having the opportunity to step outside of my world a few nights a week, JUST for the sake of developing myself as an artist - and I’m pretty sure my friends feel the same.

What I’m getting at is, however you enjoy being creative and artistic during your free time, I highly suggest (if possible), that you create a special creative space STRICTLY for those activities.

Find a studio space to rent out, or set something up in your garage, or an extra guest room you might have in the house - anywhere.

Wherever it is, make it JUST for that purpose and that purpose only.

But if you can’t afford to, or you don’t have the room, or whatever – then maybe consider setting aside the time to be creative in a practical space within your own home, and when you do, simply set up your environment in a way that will actually be complimentary to what you’re doing.

You can put some inspirational music on, or get some cool mood lighting going, hang some Christmas lights up in the room, light some incense – do what you like, but just set it up in a way that will actually inspire you DURING the time that you have set aside for being creative.

And if you’re anything like me, that’s usually not very much time at all.

I suggest that you just TRY this, because the contrast between working in a boring environment versus an INSPIRING environment, truly makes a WORLD of difference.

You'll see.

Try it out and tell me all about your experience!  I LOVE hearing about this kinda stuff because then I get to learn a ton of cool ideas for improving MY OWN creative spaces :)

Gotta run, talk to you soon!

Eddie
